First things first, you want to rule out any medical conditions before taking steps in any form of behavior modification. Trying to change your pets behavior when there's a medical condition potentially causing the problem(s), could make things worse. Second, it could delay diagnosis & any potential treatments.

Also, be mindful of any medications your pet may be on. There are several medications that can cause frequent urination, house soiling, excessive hunger (think "hangry") or excessive panting. If your pet takes any medications, please contact your veterinarian to find out whether their medications might be contributing to their problems.
