Puppy Socialization Classes
Please feel free to join our Facebook group ACVC Puppy Socialization
and get the most out of your socialization goals.
We will be monitoring the group & look forward to
evaluating your homework & trouble shoot any training issues
you may be having with your new puppy.
When and where are puppy classes held?
Classes are held here at All Creatures Veterinary Clinic. Time of year depends on how many puppies are signed up at any given time throughout the spring & fall. In order to fill each class, we need at least 4 puppies to be enrolled. If you have a puppy that meets the age requirements & would like to enroll, please contact Candy by calling our clinic number
(715-358-4300). Information about upcoming classes will also be featured on our Facebook page.
Why should I join a puppy class?
Socialization classes help expose puppies to things in a fun manner. Fear of a dogs environment can develop
quickly & easily and can be devastating for a dog. Reversal of these fears can take countless time and effort.
Proper socialization is much easier (and fun) vs counter conditioning to make the dog’s life happy and comfortable again. Living with an under socialized dog can be frustrating, difficult and potentially dangerous. And for under socialized dogs, life can be unbearably stressful. In some cases, it may not be reversible.
What kinds of things will we be doing?
A ton of things will happen in the class, including homework (don't worry, it's the fun kind). We will be working on different stimulation i.e. noise, kids, vet visits, people in uniforms (police/firefighters/delivery personnel) exposure to other strange dogs &/or other animals. Using positive reinforcement in every step, we create an environment that every puppy will enjoy.

Why the age requirements?
The prime socialization for puppies is from 8 - 16 weeks of age. It is the time when the puppy is at its most
vulnerable (and usually the most willing to take chances) & should meet as much of its future world as possible. Keeping the puppy at home and sequestered away from its future world could turn out to be the worst mistake owners can make. When the 8-16 week prime socialization window closes for some puppies, it remains closed.
